Queer History of Dance Music //

Queer History of Dance Music are a DJ duo, party outfit and long-running radio show on Clyde Built Radio exploring the co-evolution of the LGBTQI+ rights movement and club culture. Their radio shows deep-dive into the key genres, time periods, locations and artists who have shaped dance music, club culture, and LGBTQ acceptance. Their live sets and Rum Shack parties similarly explore all corners of music – and its queer roots – refusing to be contained by genre, trends or geography.

Previous guests have included Suze Ijò, TAAHLIAH, Tim Lawrence, Rebecca Vasmant, Loose Joints, Andrew Thomson, Mi$$ Co$mix, Shoot Your Shot & Hot Mess. The duo also travel the world, reviewing the best contemporary dance events, music festivals and international queer artists, including Utrect’s Le Guess Who?, Thailand’s Wonderfruit and Amsterdam’s Dekmantel. They recently played for Giles Peterson’s esteemed We Out Here festival.

David Barbarossa //

Still one of Glasgow’s best kept secrets, DB has been filling dancefloors at home and further afield with his inimitable blend of party pumpers and outsider disco for nearly 3 decades. Holding residencies in The Sub Club, Sleazys, The Berkeley, and now weekly in La Cheetah with Keep On, nobody does it quite like he does’. .

Gemma G //

Gemma has been busy over the last few months playing at a recovery convention in September and recently had a slot on Clyde Built Radio. She’s looking forward to being behind the decks at GCF this new year instead of behind the bar!

Boab Live Performance //

Boab, also known as Robbie Houston (frontman of Sweaty Palms), is a versatile musician and composer from Glasgow, known for his unique blend of instruments and captivating performances. With an eclectic approach to music, Boab will incorporate an impressive array of sounds for this performance, featuring lap steel guitar, cello, mallets, saxophone, and the exotic Santoor.

This special performance will also mark the debut of a new lineup of musicians, playing together for the first time. The set will include tracks from his debut album Open Wider the Door as well as fresh, innovative material that showcases his evolving sound. Expect layered compositions with rich synths, intricate loops, and experimental textures, creating a truly immersive experience.
