Warehouse Party w/ JG Wilkes (Optimo,(Espacio))

April 19th Good Clean Fun is ramping up the party vibes with a super special guest DJ...

We have been doing monthly parties at Garnethill Multicultural Centre for a while now and we love the space. It has a rich history with the excellent recovery community that we are blessed to have here in Glasgow.

Followers of GCF will know that we like to take a trip to other venues from time to time. For the last 2 summers, local charity, Refuweegee has hosted us at their rooftop space on Blythswood Square overlooking the city – and a few months ago Strange Field allowed us the use of their warehouse for a big New Year’s Eve blowout. We had a lot of great feedback from the party and, in particular, about the space. So we’re gonna be back there on Friday 19th April!

Formerly Barrowfield Weaving Factory, which was built in 1899 by John French & Son., Strange Field is now a multi-purpose arts and community venue in the East End of Glasgow. It’s stripped back and industrial, and it’s the perfect space for us to transplant our homely Good Clean Fun setup into it for a big ol’ warehouse party. Our resident photographer Rebecca Dewart took some beautiful photos that capture the essence of the space that you can check out on our Instagram, but you really have to be there to feel it (so please do come along for a dance!).

The party is going to be something a little special for another reason. We’ll be joined by JG Wilkes from the legendary Optimo (Espacio) parties. Optimo has been running for 20+ years and we have been big admirers of what they do, not only in terms of sound, but also how they have built and maintained a solid community over a substantial period. Staying true to the original ethos of a party, whilst allowing it to grow, is no mean feat and it’s something that we are striving towards with Good Clean Fun.

JG Wilkes is himself 7 years into his recovery. In the thousands of parties, since his DJ career began, this will be his first ever clean event – with no alcohol or drugs. We’re feeling really excited about having someone DJing who understands the challenges and joys of clubbing – and working in nightlife and music – without substances. Oh, and he also happens to be one of the best DJs in the business internationally – having played at the best clubs and festivals around the world including Dekmantel, Berghain, Nowadays, etc.

Our resident DJ Amy Rodgers will be supporting Jonnie on the night.

It feels like a lot of things are aligning nicely for this one. Tickets available here, don’t miss it (L)
