Ross Woodhead: Performing at Good Clean Fun

In a world that can often feel heavy and fragmented, spaces like this really matter.

GCF has become an important part of my life. For me, it’s one of the most therapeutic spaces I know.

No matter how many tough, tiring, or anxious days I’ve had, I know that when the end of the month comes around, stepping onto the dance floor will lift something in me. There’s a feeling of connection and release that comes from dancing alongside other people, deeply tuned into the music, sharing the same rhythm and energy.

I often think about the rich lineage of dance music, the spaces and people who laid the foundations for something that still moves people decades later. From the roots of Disco at The Loft in the early 70s to Paradise Garage and The Warehouse, these were spaces built around openness, inclusivity, and collective joy. Figures like David Mancuso, Larry Levan, and Frankie Knuckles helped shape an underground movement that now resonates in every corner of the world.

GCF carries something of that same spirit, bringing together a vibrant community of people united by a love of music and dance, inclusive across genders, sexual orientations, and expressions, and embracing a wide spectrum of music.

In a world that can often feel heavy and fragmented, spaces like this really matter.

For both Jacob and me, dancing has become an uplifting, nourishing part of our lives. We’ve been making music together as Naked, experimenting with a variety of styles, but GCF has inspired and moved our collaboration in a new direction. We’ve been creating electronic music that leans into the sounds, textures and rhythms we’ve been moved by on that dance floor, from soulful disco, funk, acid and all flavours of house music.

The DJs and music we’ve absorbed have definitely left their mark on us. It feels like a full-circle moment to share our new music to the GCF dance floor.

Playing a live set for the first time to a GCF crowd has been our aim and hope for a long time, so we’re honoured and excited to finally share it.
